Cloud Security – Protecting Your Business Beyond the Office
Welcome to Tech Tuesday!
More and more businesses are moving to the cloud—but that doesn’t mean the cloud is automatically secure. Whether you're using Microsoft 365, Google Workspace, or a private cloud provider, your setup still needs protection.
This week, we’re exploring cloud security best practices for law firms and small businesses.
Top Tips for Cloud Security:
Use Strong Access Controls
Enforce MFA, complex passwords, and limited permissions for all users.
Choose a Secure Provider
Your provider should offer end-to-end encryption, reliable uptime, and compliance with regulations like HIPAA or SOC 2.
Regularly Audit Cloud Access
Know who has access, what they’re using, and whether it’s still appropriate.
Encrypt Data at Rest and in Transit
Don’t rely on just one layer—use multiple layers of encryption whenever possible.
Back Up Cloud Data
Don’t assume your provider handles this. Make your own redundant backups.
Use Private or Hybrid Cloud Options When Necessary
For sensitive industries, private cloud environments offer more control and signed NDAs (like ours!) instead of default ToS.
Why It Matters
Cloud systems are powerful—but they require active oversight. When used right, they boost flexibility, productivity, and security. When used wrong, they create risk.
